Photography has been a part of life as early as I can remember.
My father, a good photographer and printer, has always been a Pentax man. His first SLR, about 45 years ago was quite an event. Although having the opportunity of good darkroom facilities and a good teacher, I never took the advantage of it fully (you don’t value something when it’s there for the asking). Many years later I was given a Zenith E. And it just seemed natural to develop and print myself because I knew how. Luckily I picked up a complete darkroom set of equipment, including a pretty decent condenser. This was when the bug caught me.

This turn of events perhaps had advantage, developing my own techniques.
I was given a Hanimex 135mm prime lens (wow). But I was lucky, not professional quality, but none the less not a bad lens. I was brought up in a philosophy of doing it yourself, before the term DIY was ever coined, out of both necessity and having the ability, but also for the satisfaction.
So when the need came to change to K mount, I modified the Hanimex screw thread lens myself. The screw to K adapter was easy; converting this manual lens to suit AP was a little more complicated. But I sucessfully added the linkage needed to couple to the camera, a Chinon CE4s (unfortunately Pentax was way beyond my means in those days).

Pentax has a history of making smaller nice to hold cameras, and I feel comfortable with the name, despite never yet actually owning one myself.
As I intend to rectify that situation soon, I’ll be glad to join my dad’s club.
