Saddleworth Rushcart

Photo Information
The rushcart arrives at Saddleworth Church. The event commemorates the old practice of changing the rushes on the church floor annually. The rushes are cut on the nearby moors and the cart is pulled around the local villages, ending its journey at the church. The tradition was revived over 40 years ago by the Saddleworth Morris Men, who can be seen in the image.
