Man Meets The Sea

by pauljay

Its alternative title is Men At Sea. Nine meters tall the four seated men were installed just outside the town of Esbjerg on the southwest coast of Denmark in 1994 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the municipality. If the world was flat, and who says it isn't, the four figures would be peering across the North Sea directly at Newcastle! I last photographed them nine years ago on a dark stormy day. This occasion wasn't dissimilar despite that patch of blue sky.
Can't believe that shutter speed!

The cloudscape behind makes these stand out but, for the life of me, I just can't get my head round "modern art"!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

People come up with the strangest things....And to think that someone got paid for this! On the bright side, makes for an interesting photograph

Thanks for the feedback folks! I had to wait quite some time to get a clean shot of the four men as people love to clamber over them and have their photos taken with them. I think it was worth the wait!

Very nice Paul... Like this (and them) a lot... Good clean composition, and the blue and white colour palette really suits them...
