Grundtvigskirken

Photo Information
Not being a religious person my feelings for churches could well be quite different to believers but seeing them as havens of peace and tranquility would probably not deviate too far from the norm. Located in the Bispebjerg district of Copenhagen Grundtvig’s Church has to be one of the most beautiful I have seen, based on its modest simplicity, its symmetry and uninterrupted flowing lines. The church is a modern one; its foundations were laid in 1921 and the initial inauguration took place in 1927 although building continued until 1940.
Nikolaj Frederik Severin Grundtvig, to whom the church was dedicated, was a Danish pastor, philosopher, author, poet, teacher, historian and politician and was one of the most influential people in Danish history.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the church if you are spending time in the Copenhagen area.

Lovely, serene, light filled space.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

A majestic Church. Well taken......I'm always glad when looking at empty Churchs. Better empty that "rich of fake religious holy peoples". I usually visit a Church when peoples are "out".....I'm not religious (we are) but I'm sure God doesn't split peoples in "good or not religious". I (we do All) belive in God. ONE God for All is enough LIKEd

pretty nice light tones here, .. also, share Giulio's feeling about the "empty" (let's rather say "austere") churches. I think that's characteristic of Scandinavian pious edifices ..
