Pisa

by davidtrout

Pisa in 2002. This is a copy of a colour transparency, one of many I've re photographed over the past few weeks. The copy was done on my K70 with a Tamron macro lens, which Barrie Forbes kindly lent me. The original image would have been on either a Z1 or ME Super.

The reproduction went very well. Question: are they erecting a counter-balancing structure atop the tower David? I seems to be leaning in the opposite direction of the tower. Like.

There was a lot of structure work going on when I was there but I think the tower's direction of lean has been constant for centuries, only its got more acute.

It would seem that the British team that worked on the tower in the 90s managed to reduce the lean to its 1838 position. It was subsequently stabilised to the extent that it should be good for 200 years. (Wikipedia).
