Clever puzzle. I don't think the resolution of what is "behind" him is quite the same quality as that which is in front of him?
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

You're right, it's actually taken from the lower landing of a stairwell in a very tall building, shooting into a mirror laid on the floor. Very low light levels to enhance the illusion that the stairs continue both above and below, hence the graininess due to the high ISO used.
