gull on the wing

Usually delete these sort of photos. Compositionally and technically dreadful, hand held 300mm 1/10 secm taken on the spur of the moment, but there is something I like about this photo. Bin or keep?

Thanks Stephen, good idea, it's taken straight from raw. I'll have a play around in lightroom and see what happens.

I really like this and would definitely keep it... it might also be worth trying more of... there's a fair few togs in the growing Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) fraternity who'd be all over this...

Am very encouraged by your comments, people. They give me encouragement to experiment. Wouldn't have tried this in the days of film!

I love this shot. Don't bin it. It borders on abstract and reality. If anything, take some similar shots and I'll look forward to seeing them.

Whenever I see motion blur I always think of chris friel

Your photograph is a great example of how blur works in this way. I don't understand the technicalities of digital ways to capture these images (me? use film only) but it would be great if you carried on experimenting more like this. This photograph is lovely.

"The Latent Image that exists before development is a truly mystical and exciting entity and some subsequent individual photographs can make the spine tingle."
