"Lady Isabella", Laxey wheel

by 1stEverPentax

Said to be the largest working water wheel in the world. I think the diameter is about 72'. Located at Laxey mines on the Isle of Man.

Nice study and typical Manx weather.

Standing on the top is an experience never to forget, must go back to 'Man some time...
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

I think the detailed white walls and moody sky would work well in a B&W version. I'd also consider leaving the red circle on the Manx symbol in colour.

Thanks for your comments all.

Hardgravity, It is a great feeling being on the top platform, quite a relief after that narrow spiral staircase! Overall weather wise we had some really good weather. It only rained properly twice all week and one of those was overnight after dark so wasn't a problem. The other occasion was only for about 20-30 mins and not particularly hard. Weather was a bonus really as we had all taken cagoules and jumpers but never really needed them.

RussV, yep, i intend to play around with the images from here in a couple of weeks when i'll have a bit more time. Some of them are overexposed on the white brickwork with just dark borders and outlines remaining but which look very interesting. I will also try a few in B&W as you suggest. If i'm happy with the results i'll post a couple back on here,

Stan, thanks for your comment. I can highly recommend the IOM
both as a holiday destination and particularly as a 'photo-rich' destination...every where you look...things to snap! Great scenery, lots of birdlife, some unusual marine life if you are lucky, interesting historical sites, an airport, lots of harbours, fast bikes and cars, great flowers and trees and insects...trams and trains by the shedload, interesting weather and clouds, long range views to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England...
