Powerful, technically adept & evocative image, as usual, Andrew.
All those rooves (roofs?) have a lot to answer for!
Presumably China, where I understand "our" slate comes from now, is undergoing the same (photogenic!) fate?

I can't understand how it's cheaper to transport slate from around the world when there's so much on our doorstep.
