Fascinating! I know of a couple of scenes like this and it makes you wonder how it looked back in the day.

The trams had already gone when we came to Reading in the late 60's and replaced by trolleybuses - which were also withdrawn a short time later ! The depot was still used for buses until the whole area was redeveloped not long after that.

The main building was retained and converted into an apartment block and I have some pics taken on the same day as this one.
I'll sort one out for posting.

Two places to go to see what it really looked like - Beamish and the Crich Tramway Museum. Nice that you feature this site Peter since the local authority appear to have forgotten it.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
