Difficult to choose:
B&W version
Obviously processed lighter hence a lot more detail visible in the shadows
Colour version
Darker, less shadow detail, interesting colour palette, more ‘arty’.
Re the foreground diagonal railing, would the image would be stronger without it, my initial thought was yes but it does give a sense of depth that would otherwise be missing.
Both are very interesting to view with bags of interest focus the eye, lots to see.
So rather than chose one over the other my impression is that they illustrate different photographic styles.

Thank you both for the interest you have shown.
Neither picture does justice to the complexity of the scene, a very partial, glimpse of a long and truly fascinating and officially invisible and necessarily tolerated slum not all that far from the centre of that vast city and its problems. A photo snapped hurriedly from a car, whence the railing.
