Sparrowhawk's Blackbird Lunch

by JAK

I was quite pals with that blackbird too. New him since he was a fledgling and his father before that. The father actually showed me where he was upon request, flying down to the bottom of the garden so I could take a photo. Sad it ended this way several years later. After the youngster got 'married' he moved away but still used to visit me once a year each autumn for a few of his old tit-bits (mealworms). It was all a bit Walt Disney really. Hopefully it wasn't that blackbird caught by the sparrowhawk after all, but it was the day after I last saw him so seems likely it was.
