The Last Bottle

by Fletcher8

After two days of experimenting with lighting bottles of liquid here is my finished work.

The tracing paper really helped, as did the mini reflectors behind the product. I could light the bottle top separately and then merge the images together, but i am happy enough with this final image.

I am moving on to jewellery next, so I will no doubt learn a few things through trial and error.

Very effective indeed. A great looking commercial photo.
Do you mind me asking but did you use the Karl Taylor training video to help out with the lighting? Huge apologies if you didn't and this was all by experimentation.
It's a superb photo. Well done!

Hi Russ. Yes and no! I have been playing around lighting various bottles for the last two days and learning a great deal. Ralph posted a youtube link, Karl Taylor which I did watch and learn a few tricks from, so I guess a bit of both really. I am just pleased I have learned how to do this type of shot.

This one looks great, superb lighting and well worth the experimentation.

I wonder why 200 ISO though? Why not use 100 in this situation to get absolute maximum quality?

David, I was really working on how to set the lighting and diffuse the light, the camera was on ISO 200 so just set the lighting accordingly. But yes ISO 100 would be better and next time I will mount the camera on a tripod.

I have developed a greater understanding of lighting which was my main aim, and I am very happy with what I can now achieve with the lighting equipment I have. I am learning how to make my own lighting modifiers and really enjoying the challenges
