Thanks Karlo. That guy in the picture and the waves were really putting on a show and he obliged by wearing a shirt that contrasted perfectly with the colour of the sea.

Very good of him indeed!
Out of interest what did you think of that location for a holiday? Cape Verde seems to be getting more and more popular.

If you want winter sun that's as warm as the Caribbean but less than 6 hours from the UK it ticks all the boxes. The beaches are all long, clean and soft sand. The climate is dry and and warm, about 30 degrees at the end of November and the sea is clean and warm too. Our hotel was only a 5 minute transfer from the airport as well. It was our first time to Cape Verde but we'll definitely go again.

Thanks for that Brian...very interesting.
My mother and her partner went to the main island about 8-9 years ago and although they liked it overall, I don't think the largest town was anything more than a long stretch of shacks on either side of the road. She did however bring back a very nice picture of a woman in local costume made from butterfly wings.
I'm guessing it is a bit more developed now?
There's a fine balance isn't there between development to attract tourism and over-development to ruin the beauty of the place?

I still wouldn't call it developed Karlo. I can only speak of Boa Vista though. The main town is a bit more than a few shacks but not by a lot. There are a handful of all inclusive hotels and some independent villas and apartments to rent around but most of the coastline and indeed the rest of the island is untouched. Roads are good where there are roads but to get to most places you still need a 4x4 or ATV. Its not going to stay that way for long but for me the longer the wait the better.
