Sabre Wasp (Female)

The extraordinary sabre wasp belong to the large family of wasp species called ichneumons. They are parasitic, in that they lay there eggs in or on the larvae of other insects. The sabre wasp uses its long tail, called an called an ovipositor, to drill holes into wood, searching for the larvae of beetles (mostly).
