Griffon vulture

Taken today at our local zoo.
I forgot my tripod so ended up taking shots in 'sports' mode to help avoid shake !
Kx + DL 55-300

I actually met another Pentax user (Kr+DL55-300) which made a change from the army of Canons and Nikons.

Thank you, Giulio They are so unafraid of humans that we could go right up to them (but certainly not to touch - those beaks are razor sharp !!!).

The path went through trees and some of the birds were resting on the ground beside the path, and some were roosting on posts. I liked the way the sun made a dappled effect.
