Tornado at York

by davidtrout

Last week the recently built A1 Class steam loco Tornado worked a charter train called the Cathedrals Express from London to York. Here it is rolling to a halt at Platform 10.

Ah I can almost smell the smoke, oil and hot metal from here. Lovely piece of engineering, to think Britain used to build dozens similar to this every year. Nice low angle shot of the running gear.

A fine looking loco this, unfortunately I never got to see any of this class in steam days so Tornado is a welcome site to me.

I`m off to catch the Cathedrals Express at Chester on Saturday, we have Britannia pacific 70000 Britannia herself heading the train.

Great photo David.
