Sir Nigel and a young fan

by davidtrout

Huge crowds turned out at Carlisle to see famous express steam Loco Sir Nigel Gresley on its first mainline run since extensive overhaul. I found a platform end viewpoint and I think the young girl taking her photo added to the composition. Sir Nigel, famous for its blue livery, was carrying a temporary WW11 black LNER paint job.

Lovely, crisp portrait.
I didn't realise how good it looks in wartime black. Pity it's temporary.

Yes, the girl really adds to the over all image.

Lovely shot of a locomotive that I have worked with in the past. Great to see it back out on the network. As others have said including the girl in the shot really makes for added interest.

Must say I prefer the black to the blue! Lovely shot!
