Glyder letting off steam
by davidtrout
Narrow gauge steam locomotive 'Glyder' was one of the stars at Beamish Museum's Festival of Steam event a couple of weeks ago. Built in the 1930's it first worked for Durham County Water Board on the construction site of the new Burnhope Reservoir in the Pennines. It then worked at Penrhyn quarries in North Wales before being exported to the USA. A few years ago it was repatriated to the UK and became part of the Beamish Museum loco fleet.
