Galatea at speed

Completely restored from scrap the 1930s LMS Jubilee Class express steam loco 'Galatea' is now back at work on the mainline. Here its speeding through Oxenholme in Cumbria on the Cumbrian Mountain Express a few days ago.

I do like LMS locos, we see so few of them down here (just as well, my on would say: he's a dyed in the wool GWR boy!)

Andrew, your son can console himself with the fact that locos like the Jubilee Class and the Black Fives were derived from GWR designs. Stanier, who was chief engineer of the LMS and designed the Duchess, Fives and Jubilees, was number two at Swindon under Collett and took the best GWR practises with him to the LMS.

However, it is very difficult to relate Midland and Western locos visually! Fine shot!
