The Chelmer
by pauljay
Sitting beside the River Chelmer in the vicinity of Maldon, Essex, on a beautiful morning I looked upstream having heard a disturbance of the water. I caught sight of this swan "walking" on water as it attempted to gain flying speed. I'd removed the camera from my neck and laid it beside me so if I was going to get a shot of this magnificent bird I had to grab it and switch it back on not giving a tinker's for the settings! I was quite surprised just how well it worked, with the aid of a small dose of cropping and sharpening!
You must have been close to the waters edge to have got that shot at a focal length of 21mm!
What a decent crop as well.
Well done Paul.

Karlo
That surprised me too Karlo! I was dangling my feet just a couple of cms above the water as I sat on a landing stage! Quite a feat of panning I thought to myself!
