Richmond Stag

by matwhittington

One of several taken this morning - it's the time of year again when the stags are getting excited. Unfortunately there wasn't the amazing mist/light combo like like last year, but there were plenty of deer (and a lot of photographers). Only drawback was the puncture I got shortly after this was taken (so I had to walk home:blush

Nice shot for all your troubles, going to watch the rut is on my "must do" tick list. I wonder if it may benefit with the branches being cropped out.

Thanks technoblurb - I thought the same myself and decided I liked them in for some reason - although I'll have a go with some different crops. I go cycling in the park most weekend mornings (and i always stuff my camera into my backpack) so have seen the rut a couple of times now - very impressive, and it attracts a huge number of photographers (compared with the normal 'non-rut' Autumn mornings!). It is slightly odd seeing these big stags prowling around with a posse of people with long lenses trailing behind them.
