B1 at Burrs, East Lancashire Railway

Best viewed large,.This was a pre-arranged charter freight during the ELR Autumn Gala on 21st October 2012. The sun is dappling the train and the embankment and is glinting momentarily off Class B1 4-6-0 No 61306 "Mayflower"

I think it deserves a bit closer crop but a lovely image none the less - love that light.

I agree wholly. The bottom quarter is not interesting and you could lose a bit off the right side. But it's a most evocative photo. I remember when such trains regularly ran along the valley in which my village was in.I think it deserves a bit closer crop but a lovely image none the less - love that light.

I like its special lights and the great texture of the smoke. Nice capture.

Many thanks to everyone for the kind comments. I am reluctant to crop the right hand side of the image as this may place the locomotive too close to the edge - the "rule of thirds".

It's a well know location near Burrs Country Park and the Brown Cow pub about a couple of miles from the centre of Bury.

Nice atmospheric shot, it looks like a very cold day.
