colosseo
by mattox
After many many shots of the Colosseo (Colosseum), Rome, Italy, this if feel gives this structure a different angel. Looking up at the great walls rather than from a distance gives one more of an idea of Romes power in it's day rather than from a distant I think. I thought of doing this after taking many shots one night, then turning to my side to see another 100 people doing the same. I thought to myself, what am I achieving here. This took me to cross the road, lay on the road with my tripod literally on its back and let the clouds pass by for a good 30 seconds to bring in that full feel. Be closer to something gives you the feel of what it is. From a distant its just a view.

Great shot Mattox! Fantastic light and a great sky. Well worth the effort you put into it. Very sharp for 30 seconds too, well done! That bit of lens flare (?) in the top centre is a bit strange, I wonder where that came from?

The lens flare is from a street light which would have been situated to the top left of the image. I tried to avoid it, but in the end I think it isn't too bad for as far as lens flare goes. Gives a nice crisp clean image a bit of creativity to it i think.
