Fungus Finger Forest

by MikeInDevon

Taken two weeks ago in our local woods, a fallen tree trunk is been consumed by a fungus, these weird bright yellow/orange fingers of fungus are erupting through the bark. I've never seen these before, they are only a few millimetres high by say a millimetre wide.

If the weather permits them to continue they will eventually transform into 'antlers'
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks I'll keep an eye out for that. We do have some 'Stagshorn' fungus growing on an old tree stump in our garden, this is white with sooty marks and some with multi-branches like antlers.

Cheers
