Supermoon over Reading
by PeterKR
It took a while to get the right exposure and ended up doing it fully manual (manual exposure and manual focus, and hand held).
The image was processed in On1 2024 then cropped and re-sized in PSE11.
Note that the EXIF data shows the wrong lens - it was the Sigma Aspherical IF Compact Hyperzoom 28-300 3.5 - 6.3
Truly appreciated comments from the 'master of the night sky'
Thanks again

Really good result...even more remarkable considering hand held.

You'd be suprised at how easy it actually is to photograph the moon handheld. I have done it with a 500mm lens.
Ideally you want as near to full... 85% plus... and the higher in the sky the better. Less atmosphere to shoot thru
As Spad has pointed out the brightness of the moon allows very fast shutter speeds to be used so this allows using hand held.
At the same time fairly small apertures can be used, increasing DoF and making focus that much easier.
That said, I did have to use a bit of PP to sharpen it a bit !
It's all part of the learning experience which is the joy of photography !
Best regards
Peter
