Yes, you're right. I have never been in England, but this photo (and others from Andrew) bear the print of England, IMHO.....I like visiting two different Old England Stores in Italy(Milano and Florence)...and many years ago there was a famous England Bakery in Florence....I was used to buy bread in this lovely place.

A lovely rural view Andrew and I agree with Larry and Giulio that this image is very 'England', although there are not actually many places that look like this (not near Sheffield anyway).

Makes me homesick! Great shot. B&W only enhances it - gives it a more 'authentic' timeless feel.

Thanks everyone. Glad it evoked some memories/thoughts.

Giulio: you must come here one day and let us show you around. Of course, the price to pay for all the green trees and grass is highly unsettled, often wet, weather! But there are lots of pretty villages and market towns which have largely escaped the developers' bulldozers, even in David's Yorkshire (if you go to the Dales and the Moors.)
Best wishes,

Andrew

Great composition and tonal range. I like the nice details and the square crop. It looks even better in enlarged view.
