Glazegate Afterglow

by morpheus71

Afterglow light illuminates the fringes of retreating clouds above the Longcombe, beside the ancient Glazegate Lane drover's route.

The Rypen Clump is the copse on the far side of the Longcombe. Totnes lies in the middle distance and the southern slopes of the Dartmoor plateau are in the distance.

Many thanks Donna 😊 It's an area rich in undulating hills and Coombes, with Dartmoor visible from many of them. I was fond of the journey the hedges and form of the hills take the eyes on in this particular photograph. 😏

Really eye-catching Phil - the sky is beautiful and the compo is spot-on. Did you use an ND Grad or did you use exposure merging to achieve the end result ?

Many thanks for your generous comments Nigel. I used a two stop ND grad and then a bit of luminosity masking / curves in Photoshop to balance the tones 😊

Thanks very much for your generous comments Malc 😊 It's a place I have lost count of the times I have visited it. A delightful rural idyll to my way of thinking 😊 So lucky to be surrounded by such landscape as this.

So well put together... the light is beautiful, but love how you've framed it and the zigzag compo...

Best

Many thanks indeed Bill for your considered and generous comments. It was that fusion of all those things that made me smile like a Cheshire Cat - whilst making this photograph
