Vistula Crossing

by GIULIO57

Simply a nightscape…but a very beautiful town: Krakow in Poland. I was there for a week-end as follower of the wedding of my wife’s relative (living and working there after several years he spent in Ireland).
Camera K20D on tripod. PENTAX 12-24mm lens(wonderful!!!). Release cable to avoid vibrations.
This bridge acrosses river Vistula and glues Kazimiers with Podgorza areas. It is for pedestrians and bicycles only. A nice bridge with tons of love’s locks(and a few drunk peoples disturbing me while taking several piccies)! That atmosphere(light, night design, colours, colour casts as well, reflections, restaurant boats, lights on bridge) caught my attention so I tried to take a pic of it(almost a challenge….and you all know what I do mean). I fixed noise in Topaz DeNoise 5 then I processed file in PS. Last but not least I spent a few time to retouch tones (here and there)using Viveza 2(I did so after reading photo infos of Mr. SMarsden about workflow performed on a photo displayed on PUG several weeks ago. I hope result is good and I hope to have enough learnt by his infos) . PS Krakow and its cakes(!!!) Well worth a trip 

Well chosen exposure - and looks good. I might be tempted to lose the hand-rail on right hand side, but that would lose a bit of the bridge - difficult choice IMO

Not so sure about losing the handrail. It forms a visual stop much as the church spire on the left does. What's your opinion Giulio?
It's a wonderful, crystal clear image with or without it - well done!

Right...It was same problem when I was taking photo.....I kept hand-rail not to lose bridge and I used it as guiding line for eyes..Almost a "Z"from right bottom corner to left upper passing through the bridge....but you are right...it has been very difficult to make a choice

A difficult choice.....My wife and my brother in law were close to me and I asked them which compo they should have preferred. Brother in law took a photo with mobile phone without hand-rail....It worked BUT something was missing, IMHO.....and looking at my pics was clear even the sparkling light at the end of that hand-rail useful to describe the figure in that place.....I repeat that it has been a difficult choice but honestly speaking I prefer hand-rail....and I do like your words "visual stop". It is a clear concept that recall the idea of a "guiding line". THX ALL for techn. & compo comments about this work (just an experiment as I'm not an expert of night scapes)
