The lock keeper's house

The lock keeper's house at Mapledurham Lock seen across The Thames from Mapledurham House.
The boats seen moored are not in the lock but on the North side of an island. The lock (and the house) is actually the far side of the island on the South side of the river.
To the left of the moored craft the river flows over the weir, hence the large steel posts and ropes.

Hi Mac, thanks for the comments.
Those 'specks' are actually Red Kites ! I hadn't noticed them as I don't pay any attention to them (except when I'm TRYING to photograph them !).
Since they were re-introduced to the Thames Valley a few years ago they have multiplied rapidly. Even in the urban area around Reading it is common to see 6 or more together and my record is 12 soaring overhead! What is amusing is when they come down over gardens and get chased away by crows !
If I get time later I'll try 'shooting them down' !

Fret ye not - ALL comments are most welcome, and the feedback is what we look for when posting images. It is only from comments that we learn and are able to improve.
You were not to know about our 'plague of Kites' !
What is more it was only after your comment that I went back and studied the original image at 100% and found that is what the specks are - it isn't possible to tell from the posted image.
So grateful thanks for all your comments - don't be shy, I'm fairly thick skinned !!!
