For myself, the portrait version works better - more plant on show.

just about every time when the question is asked "which one"?, i find the first one i see is the "right one"....probably because that is my point of reference.
I looked at the landscape one first and liked it, and read the comment so looked at this one. And you know what, i like this one better. As alfpics says, more plant on show, and fills the frame more naturally.
i like it.

Thank you all for your help and opinions - it seems reasonably clear cut - portrait.
As was pointed out recently, I don't do them often. Perhaps I will now.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
