Seem to recall reading that the reason a lot of the old lenses have this peculiar bokeh is a defect of some sort; now, what I brilliant defect to have. It makes even the simplest photos so picturesque. That said, the poppy wielding a weapon is quite something on it's own! Well spotted!

I think the bokeh Magdalena is recalling is that associated with the Helios 58mm f2, where certain situations create a swirling phenomenon centred on the focussed subject. It happens to an extent with the Helios 50M series too. I think the current bokeh results from me pushing the lens to its limit. It is normally a very pleasing buttery blending of background objects.
