Winter on the East Coast Mainline

by davidtrout

Winter on the East Coast mainline; Looking North from Durham station through an SLR with 200mm lens in January 2015 - then cropped. Left to right: Cross Country diesel Newcastle-bound, Trans Pennine Express heading south and Class 66 diesel with a heavy freight looped to allow the TPE to speed past.

Great photo, love the weave of the points in the foreground and the condensed look of the electrification gantries - Nice!

The amount of stuff above is amazing in a view like this one - likewise the apparently ramshackle state of the track where every imperfection is magnified. Wonderfully interesting image.

Thanks for the comments. This view of the scene is unrecognisable as the the real thing due the the winter light, the long lens and a massive crop. The wobbly track looks a bit worrying on a stretch of track where trains run up to 80 or perhaps even 90mph.

Lots of railway interest. Super shot.
