RAF Hawk trainer at CAD WEST, Mid Wales

My framing was out on this one...too busy trying to get it in focus manually. I thought it might be useful to indicate though that you don't necessarily need a 'long' lens to get sizeable images from this hillside position.

This image was taken at just 148mm and has been cropped 33%. This was only the second aircraft to pass through in 3.5 hours! A steep learning curve
as unlike airshows you don't get multiple opportunities to get the right shot...a few seconds and thats it.

Karlo, I hate to be negative but this shot is way out of focus and the panning just didn't keep up with the aircraft! We have a Gallery member who is a real master of this kind of shot in the shape Rob2402. Take a look at some of his shots and you will start to realise just what standard us aviation minions have to progress to! I speak as one whose photography over the last forty five years or so has concentrated primarily on aviation although my photos are more likely to feature a DC6 sitting on the deck awaiting its next cargo shipment! One or two photos have found their way into my portfolio but none of them exciting enough to generate envy in the way that Rob's can. Sorry about that!
Paul.
