Nice shot Matt. I'd be very inclined to crop a little on the right side so that the edge of the image was dark as opposed to being a light area. Light areas attract our eyes and here IMHO pull us slightly away from the subject.
When I cover that area up it seems to concentrate us more on the bird's head.
