What a beautiful snow fence!

by Dubious Drewski

I saw this fence and knew I had to photograph it. Too bad this silly girl got in the way.

Kidding. This is Beth, a regular model of mine. This was shot behind her house. The light was fading, so I did a 30-second exposure, with a front-curtain flash firing through a reversed umbrella.

She posed, I pressed the shutter, the flash fired, and then she left the frame and waited beside me while the rest of the 30 seconds of exposure filled in the sky detail. It was a neat experiment.

Shot with the always exciting Sigma 10-20. See? I use this lens far too much!

A wonderfully original and dramatic shot.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Agree with Andrew, this is a very good image - but are you saying the model left the scene with the shutter still open, and no ghosting?

Correct. It was nearly pitch dark out, and at iso200, that fence was not going to add any texture to the image after the strobe fired. Plus, I didn't want to make her sit there like that for the whole exposure.

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
