Steam speed record breaker Mallard at Locomotion, the railway museum at Shildon, Co Durham. I've just had this picture accepted in the PPG.

The viewing angle and the composition add to the impact of this photo.
The sky seems to radiate from the chimney of the loco, adding to the appeal.

Very nice shot of this classic engine David - taken with my favourite lens for this sort of work - and well done on the PPG acceptance.

Have been considering a trip to Shildon - how does it compare to York?

Thanks for the comments Graham, Carl and Mark. 'Locomotion' at SHildon is a branch of the National Railway Museum which is at York and has a considerable range of exhibits, although not as large as York. Locos are often interchanged between York and Shildon.

Interesting and unusual shot. I like the angle, the conversion and the distortion of the wide angle lens. It's a great shot, David.
