Gazing out from the wonderful Bolberry Down to a grumbling thunderstorm retreating over Dartmoor and the rural South Hams of Devon.

It is not simple to take pictures of skies and clouds. This is one of your best efforts about this matter

Thank you very much indeed for your very generous and considered comments Giulio
Indeed the diminutive sliver of the 300m high hills of the southern moorlands were a deliberate prelude and juxtaposition to the narrative of the immensity of the thunderclouds.
I wanted the drama of the clouds,, the vastness of the structures of the cumulonimbi, the hues and the light to have the main presence in this moment of meteorological theatre... and simultaneously to show the true scale of the storm cell, by relating it to the humble moors and rural vales below.

Thank you very much David being out in and at times under those thunder clouds is a memory that will stick in my mind. Had a scary shelf cloud descend from one of the storms, ran for cover in a cliff top barn.. 5 seconds after getting inside there was a flash of lightning and a rumble less than a second later, too close ! I stood gazing at the storm grumble, flash and trundle by for 20 minutes from the doorway, scary and exhilarating. Was out on assignment for the National Trust, there were certainly some mezmerizing moments of dramatic storm light, will post some more photos soon
