Welsh Narrow Gauge Centenary

by davidtrout

A couple of weekends ago I spent three wonderful days in the glorious North Wales landscape photographing narrow gauge railways - two days at celebrations to mark the 100 anniversary of the Welsh Highland Railway and a day the the delightful Talyllyn Railway around 40 miles south. This one shows 'Palmerston'. originally built in the 1860s to serve the slate industry, but much rebuilt and restored since then, working a special train at Waunfawr with a special train from Dinas, near Caernarfon to Rhyd Ddu, near the summit of the railway.

Another wonderful look at the past. As always, you pick the best POV to go to work. Like.

Lovely 'happy' picture.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I think this is a great image. The rail lines and fences go together, nice arch faces, steam and smoke.
