Pay no attention to those two grouches above me It's a striking photo, I don't see anything distasteful about it at all. I like it, a lot. Although I could tell it was yours before i even scrolled down to your name, has Drewski written all over it

I totally agree with 'pink' but I would have preferred to see a banana, lollipop, football rattle or bottle of single malt in his hand, rather than an, apparently, deadly weapon.
I tend to worry about people who take shots like this, a young girl who covers her subject's faces with pig's blood comes to mind. Keep a psychologist busy for weeks!

Paul I completely disagree. It's a photograph of a model acting a role. Don't take it so seriously! Would you also call a movie with a gun-wielding gangster in it distasteful?
(This is all a bit ironic in light of the Bill Brandt quote in your sig )

Agree with Tim. How is this in any way distasteful? Technically and artistically it's brilliant too!

Perhaps I should step quietly sideways!
If this photo was mine I'd be very proud of it, as, I'm sure, you are Tim. However, I feel it is promoting a certain culture, which seems to prevail in the UK today. If it was a shot of the Saffron Walden Ripper biting the heads off whippets, it would be OK providing the lighting was good? Debatable. I feel that by posting a photo you promote a (conceived?) image of yourself, which is what I relate to my signature, and I am quite sure that you are not a piece wielding hip flask drinker - I hope!!
Sorry to stir things up.

The work of an excellent studio photographer, but I have to disapprove of the mixture of alcohol and automatic. It's not disturbing or even unsettling just distasteful.
Best wishes,
Andrew

Holy cow, you guys. This thread is both a flattering response and a sobering shock to me. I am nearly speechless to learn that a silly photo like this offends so many of you. It's intended to be very light-hearted, but I suppose that context is not apparent in this photo.
This is a promotional photo I did for some friends who are putting on a (very funny) stage play at the Edmonton Fringe Festival this year. This character is a drunkard ninja ex-cop who can't do anything right. It's off-the-wall, and nothing more.
Again, I apologize for offending anyone, but at the same time, I really must suggest that you guys lighten up a little.
EDIT: Oh, and of course, thank you to everyone who gave constructive or positive feedback. It's encouraging.
