Whitby Abbey

Photo of the Week by carmagw

A quick break from the cloud and rain and a mad dash to the other side of the pond to get the clichéd shot of Whitby Abbey and reflection. The wind could have dropped a little but that would be asking too much.

Cracking shot. Love the colours on the stonework against the dark sky. The foreground reeds make it for me.

Nicely captured, the slight movement in the water reflection works well.
Cheers

I agree. This is a lovely shot and the foreground reeds really are the icing on the cake.

A striking image, nice balance and the foreground reeds provide the 'anchor'.

Thanks for the comments, I got lucky with the light that day. Had been grim for 2 days.

Smashing shot

The pond is not as close to the Abbey as it looks in this picture, assuming you've gone through the visitor center and inside the perimeter wall then the pond is towards(ish) the carpark end. One of the few spots where its easy to get a shot without other buildings in view.

Never knew there was a pond there! Great location to get the abbey on its own. Nice one!
