York city-scape with Minster - June 1961
A very successful copy- almost a 3D effect!
That was my thought as well - looks 3-D

Thanks, that must be due to the lens used it seems to have a slight 'toy' effect in this image. I still have the camera and lenses which are a Super Paxette, a Stable-Choro 1:3.5 38mm, a Steinheil Cassarit 1:2.8 45mm and a Steinheil Quinar 1:3.5 85mm. This photo would most likely have been taken with the 45 mm lens or possibly the 38 mm. Looking at Google Maps I can duduce that it was taken from Clifford's Tower looking down towards Castlegate and St. Mary's with York Minster in the distance. Castle Garage is no more, instead that whole area to the left is now the York Hilton, how times change.

Nice old cars in foreground...a piece of history is your "photo post-card"

Thanks, you're right about history!

Impressive dynamic range and detail, I love it. I think that scanning film with the use of macro lens and DSLR is the way to go.
Thanks Darius, yes it certainly shows promise, and with a higher spec. DSLR with 14 bit depth, more megapixels and pixel shift I'd expect the results to get incrementally better.
The macro lens I used is a smc PENTAX-FA 1:2.8 50 mm MACRO, very sharp with a flat field, I think this is the key component. I was lucky to buy this lens last year through eBay at a very reasonable price, I've been very impressed by it for both macro and general use.
