Mother's Protection

Taken on the Ynyslas Dunes, Wales a short journey from where I live. I love this spot and visit often. Taken with the LX and Ilford 400 asa. Much akin to most of my photographs. Developed at home and printed with the ancient Leitz Wetzler enlarger with it's beautiful Leitz enlarger lens.

Really like this, simple but effective, a little too much grain for my liking but thats the characteristic of the film.

Lovely dark tones

Thanks Daniel.
My unskilled knowledge in developing negs [as well as the 400 film used] is just as likely to be part of the result for this much grain on my negatives. I used ID11 most of the time with timing issues that went by "feel" and not "exact science." Luckily, I am a grain lover though. Good Fortune.

I really like it, and it evokes really fond childhood memories for me as we holidayed in Borth for 15 or 16 years and spent many a happy day in those dunes.

Andrew...I'm lucky enough to live near the dunes [not in Borth however, although I have been through a number of times....shanty town??] But I only have a fifteen minute ride to get to Ynyslas.

Thankyou too alfpics and GIULIO57 for your comments.

All adds up to a beautiful atmospheric presentation - ageless.

It used to be such a vibrant colourful holiday resort. The last time I was there, it was a mere shadow of what it used to be. Such a shame.

It certainly has taken it's downward spiral to heart over the past few years. I prefer turning 'right' to Ynyslas now and haven't been down to Borth for an age leisurely wise. I nipped to see my local GP recently and that was the first visit to Borth for an absolute age. I was a bit shocked [even though it is winter] it held a very different vibe .
