Catching some sun

One of my first tries at a close-up shot soon after buying my K10D. Used the 18-55mm kit lens. Have since bought Pentax macro lens so hope to get more practise in.

Nice shot, you've done well to keep all the detail in the yellow petals, and the blurred, dark background really helps the subject stand out. Being picky, I could suggest a little more space on the lefthand side of the image, but it looks good.

Although it's great to have a macro lens, don't neglect your zoom, as you've proved here it can give you excellent results, and different fields of view than your macro.
