Whatever happened to this foxglove?

by davidwozhere

Has anyone any idea? It grew as normal and began flowering normally, from the bottom, upwards. Then the top bud did this - it isn't remotely like a foxglove flower! (The bit to the right is a non-associated delphinium).

My gardening wife tells me that is called 'fasciation' and sometimes occurs on the tip of the main stem or flowers of foxgloves, delphiniums and other plants.
