So what is it?

Tormentil has 4 petals, cinquefoil has five. This creeps along the ground too and has six. It's normally wide open, flat and is here curling up as the sun goes down.

Could be 'Creeping Buttercup' (Ranunculus repens).

Not a buttercup mike. It opens out absolutely flat in full sunlight, Thanks for the superlative go4IT !
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
