“The efflux of the soul is happiness, here is happiness,
I think it pervades the open air, waiting at all times,
Now it flows unto us, we are rightly charged.”

(Walt Whitman)

Early autumn leaves colour the granite boulders, worn smooth over the aeons by the swift waters of the River Plym.

The river here runs through the Dewerstone Woods, part of the Goodameavy woodlands that are managed by the National Trust – on the western side of Dartmoor National Park.
