The Hardknot Pass

by PeterKR

This is the view of the Hardknot Pass, in The Lake District, viewed from the start of the ascent from the Eastern side.
The ascent from the West is even more tortuous and it is one of my favourite drives (but not for the faint hearted !)

I like this compo and that country-road. Beautiful to drive with a bicycle up to the top. At first glance slope is about 15-17%. Right?

Many thanks for the comments, Giulio.
As I said. this is the EASY side of this pass and you are right that the slopes are around 15-20%.
However, on the other side there are lots of 25% sections with blind hairpin bends - and it is only a single track road so you just hope that no one is coming the other way beyond those hidden corners !
I love it !!!
And when you get to the top the views are breathtaking,
Also, guess what - you Italians got there centuries ago as there are the remains of a Roman fort up there !

Thanks again
Peter
