Firsts from my K200D

Thought it was appropriate if I congratulated you on the first shot and I really do like it

Got a nice DA 16-45 lens on Ebay, might as well get the lens acquiring bug out of the way early

Hi Rich, thanks for the kind words I got a lucky break with the rain clearing out just as I was putting the camera together. The view is across from my house, I see a rainbow at least once a month in that field. As far as lenses go, I'm still confused as to why you'd want another lens that covers a range you already have, aside from the obvious f stop improvement. But aside from that I'm plum out of cash, so the kit lenses will have to do. Thanks again!

Did you know what your settings where (Manual, Full Auto, Speed, Aperture, ISO)? Did you use a filter? What was the original size (??MP).
Why do I ask? I can make out that the sun was in your back but shadows are not too long so I reckon somewhere shot towards West at about 1400h-1500h, difficult to judge as there are no clear shadows that would give a clear indication.
I do like the composition but would probably have taken an ND2 or ND4 filter (if needed with a tripod) but the colours may have been more intensive and have the clouds more dominant in the sky. As for the rainbow it almost get a 'lost and needs to be more dominant.
But bottom line and all in all I really like it and would like to see an original size of the picture just to see if there could be anything done in post production that intensifies the rainbow and the clouds contrasting with the field. All in all, I got an A3 Stylus Photo R1800 and the glossy paper as well as the ink is nearly a weeks wages but it is definitely one you can be proud of and that I would print out, frame and hang it there where EVERYONE can see it when they enter the house.
I can see I can learn a lot here.

This picture was taken the day I got the camera. I was literally putting the lens on for the first time when I looked out the window and this was what I saw. I had only read a portion of the manual, so I believe this was taken in full 'Auto' mode. ISO 100 1/250 f/8 at 55mm with the Pentax 18-55mm Mark I. Full resolution (10mp). If you look above, under 'Photo Information', on the right you can see where it reads 'Exif: Click Here', that window will drop down and will show you most of the Exif data. This was taken looking almost directly east, August 28th at 17:10. No filters and no post-processing, so this was just 'as-shot'. I think this was my second or third shot ever with this camera, so I was thrilled at how well it turned out I have a Canon A4 printer but I hadn't even thought about printing it! LOL, out buy about 90º and 2h. Good job I did not guessed the date LOL. Honestly I really like it and its for sure something I would have a play with (in particular if you have the RAW file for it.
Well done, and thanks for the tip with the Exif file. Never seen it.
But I would even print it in all its glory in A4 on glossy 260g paper with all the bells and whistles the Canon can give you and so you should with the rose.

It's nice to be nice!

Pentax K-5 with D-GB4 Grip, to many lenses to mention by now (serious LBA by now), TC's, Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW, Manfrotto 028 & Redsnapper RS-283 with various Heads plus various Camera Clamps (I collect them). Pentax AF 360FGZ, Pentax AF 240FT, several Metz 45 CT-1 & 5 with stands and 'Blow Up' Soft Boxes, Flash Triggers, and various Macro gear.

Unfortunately I hardly knew how to turn the camera on, let alone use RAW, so it was a jpg only; but you're welcome to have a go with the original, if you'd like! I'll drop you a PM.
