Wind power - old & new

by petrochemist

Just after last years Clacton Air show, I spotted something else to train my long lens on.
The nearer Gunfleet windfarm starts about 7 miles offshore, and the London array in the background is over 20 miles away.
One of the vessels owners has confirmed she is the brigantine 'Lady of Avenel' on route for Maldon (the French 'La Malouine' is very similar).

Best large. A great photo....Interesting contrast between Wind-mills(the present) and sailor (the past). I do like it....just a little bit of more pp to change this photo into a masterpiece.

Thanks Giulio, my pp has always been minimal, somewhere I need to improve on my limited skills. What do you recommend?

Great shot - the capture for composition and the clarity are both great

I've taken several shots of the windfarms, with modern sail (yachts) in view, from the Greensward at Frinton. I used my longest lens (DA 55-300) but never got the clarity you show here ? Were you just lucky and not have as much 'sea mist' as I always seemed to find ?

Best wishes
Peter

Thanks for the kind comments.

Peter, Yes I was certainly lucky with the haze, all to often recently even the closer turbines have been totally hidden.
I have boosted the contrast, as much as I dared, which helps a little with long range shots. Conditions were dry enough for me to lay prone on the grass & shoot whenever people wern't walking in front of me.
